As s a runner/walker and fund raiser for In The Image you will have the opportunity to earn the following perks:

  • Automatically, you will receive an In The Image arm band to wear on Race Day to show who you are representing.
  • When you reach $100 in your fund raising efforts, your name will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win a $20 gift card to Celebration Cinema and 2 popcorn coupons.
  • When you reach $300 in your fund raising efforts, In The Image will cover the cost of your registration fee for the Fifth Third River Bank Run.
  • When you reach $600 in your fund raising efforts, In The Image will send you a dri-tech shirt with In The Image's logo.
  • When you reach $5,000 in your fund raising efforts, Executive Director, Jay Starkey and an Executive Chef will cook dinner for you and your household. The menu is at the Chef's discretion; all food allergies will be respected.
  • When you raise $6,000 in your fund raising efforts, Jay will do the dishes after he cooks for your household!
  • The over-all, top contributor to In The Image's Race for S.H.O.E.S. will receive an Hour Massage from a Certified Physical Therapist.

As a runner/walker for In The Image, Training Runs and Clinic are available to you:

  • Thursday, 1/26 (6:30-7:45p) -- Make It Count! Training Clinic at Gazelle Sports-Grand Rapids (3930 28th Street SE). Thinking about running or walking for charity in 2012? Join runners and walkers who have successfully fundraised for charity through their participation in the Fifth Third River Bank Run and Boston Marathon. You'll receive some great fundraising tips and network with others who are also supporting causes affiliated with the Fifth Third River Bank Run. Refreshments and register to win opportunities provided.
  • Saturday, 1/28 (9a) -- Training Run/Walk from Fifth Third Banking Center-Wyoming (2301 Gezon Parkway SW, 49418). Coaches will lead one and two mile runs/walks for those training for the 10K or 5K, or taking part in the 10,000 Steps Challenge. Meet back at the Banking Center after training for refreshments, networking and register to win opportunities.
  • Saturday, 2/4 (7:20-7:50a) -- Injury Prevention Training Clinic at the David D. Hunting YMCA (475 Lake Michigan Dr., Grand Rapids 49503). Metro Health Sports Medicine will walk us through how to avoid common running-related injuries, how to differentiate between sore muscles and a potential injury, and treatments for common running/walking-related injuries.
  • Saturday, 2/4 (8a) -- Training Run at the David D. Hunting YMCA (475 Lake Michigan Dr., Grand Rapids 49503). Join others in training for their Fifth Third River Bank Run event at this free training run (various distances available based on 25K, 10K and 5K Run training) led by coaches from Gazelle Sports. We'll meet at the YMCA for directions, maps and pre-race water before hitting the streets to train (water and Gatorade provided at aid stations on routes). Then, return to the YMCA to enjoy refreshments along with networking with event staff, Metro Health Sports Medicine and some of the 2012 Charity Partners. No pre-registration required.
  • Tuesday, 2/7 (5:45-6:15p) -- "For Women Only" Training Clinic at the Spartan Stores YMCA (5722 Metro Way, Wyoming). Join us prior to the Speed Workout for a featured panel of women runners who will discuss some of the challenges facing women in their training and racing, as well as answer all the questions for women only.
  • Tuesday, 2/7 (6:30-7:30p) -- Speed Workout from the Spartan Stores YMCA (5722 Metro Way, Wyoming). Led by Road Warrior coach and veteran 25K participant Mike Dopke, you'll find out first-hand why regular speed workouts can help you accomplish your race day goals! Runners of every level welcome. Store your gear at the YMCA and be prepared to go outside for the Speed Workout.
  • Wednesday, 2/22 (5:30-6:30p) -- Injury Prevention Training Clinic at the Metro Health Sports Medicine clinic within the Spartan Stores YMCA (5722 Metro Way, Wyoming). Plus, learn how best to incorporate GU into your training for a successful race day. Flavor samples available!

Find out everything you need to know for smooth sailing during Race Weekend 2012 from vetern runners and industry professionals from Gazelle Sports, BROOKS, Metro Health Sports Medicine and the Fifth Third River Bank Run Road Warriors. The event will also feature light refreshments, register-to-win opportunities and networking with others training for Saturday, May 12.
  • Saturday, 5/5 (7:20-7:50a) -- Race Day 101 Training Clinic at the David D. Hunting YMCA (475 Lake Michigan Dr., Grand Rapids 49503). Get all your questions answered to ensure you have a successful event on Saturday, May 12! Join race day veterans who will share their best practices for the second Saturday of May in downtown Grand Rapids.
