Helping 6,000 at-risk children get new back to school shoes

Since 1996, In The Image has worked to provide brand new back to school shoes for at-risk students in 18 Grand Rapids elementary schools. Each year we’ve been able to help over 6,000 students get a step in the right direction to start the new school year.

“We’re very grateful to In The Image for their ‘sole-ful’ contribution to our students.”

– Jim Rinck, Board member, Grand Rapids Public Schools.

S.H.O.E.S. stands for Shoes Help Our Elementary Students. Each year, In The Image buys new shoes directly from K-Mart, Wolverine World Wide, Payless Shoe Source and Shoe Carnival for an average of $8 per pair. Our goal for 2005 is to raise $48,000 to buy 6,000 pair of shoes.

Contributions can be made towards S.H.O.E.S. by making a donation to In The Image. For contact information and on-line information on donations click here.

“Through the generosity of the people in the greater Grand Rapids area, and the companies that partner with us, we’re able to help at-risk and low income students get the school year started out on the right foot.”

- Paul Haagsman, Executive Director, In The Image.
